We are a group of voters who share
three related concerns:
We are concerned about the damage being done to the fabric of Canadian society by the current Conservative Party government.
We are concerned that the "first past the post" electoral system in Canada strongly favours the Conservative Party, and is likely to continue to do so in future elections.
We are concerned about the low level of participation by eligible voters in Canada.
Many of us support some form of proportional representation and believe it would partly address these concerns. But the political crisis is too urgent to wait for that remedy. That is why we believe that the New Democratic Party, Liberal Party, and Green Party need to consider new strategies in the next Federal election.
To this end, Citizens for Cross-Party Cooperation has addressed a letter to MPs of these three parties (with copies to the Bloc Quebecois) and their party executives, expressing our concerns and proposing a fresh approach.
